We believe that the Constitution of the United States of America is a Divinely-inspired document and that through it our great nation was born. We believe the Constitution is as valid today as it was at its conception and believe that our government must adhere to its principles in order to regain and maintain prosperity for us and our children. Thus, it is our mission to protect our God-given rights by holding our leaders accountable, by electing qualified individuals who will uphold Constitutional principles including a limited government, and by educating, motivating, and activating other patriotic Iowans to do the same.
We envision a country where our leaders preserve and defend Constitutional principles through a limited federal and state government, a decrease in government spending, a cessation of over-taxation, a continuance of capitalism in its truest form, and a return to the principles and values that our founding fathers espoused when they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honors and our goal is to encourage all to do the same.
But neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man- Samuel Adams
The Des Moines Tea Party does not give support to - financial or otherwise - any political candidate. At times we may give public forums to candidates who hold conservative values but at no time do we, as a group, pledge our support in favor of or receive any contributions from any political candidate or group. We are strictly a grassroots organization fighting for the issues, not necessarily candidates themselves.
