From Richard Rogers a honorable member of Tea.. Once again I must ask you to rush to the ramparts and help repel an attack on your most basic of natural rights ? that of self-defense. In a few hours (at 1:00 PM Wednesday), the Iowa House P...ublic Safety Committee is scheduled to consider House Study Bill 18, referred to as Iowa?s Emergency Powers Reform legislation. This bill would prohibit any government agency from confiscating or regulating the lawful possession, carrying, transfer, transportation and defensive use of firearms or ammunition during a state of emergency, such as occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans , Louisiana . Unfortunately, it suddenly appears that anti-gun legislators will attempt to remove the word ?carrying? from this bill. Obviously, this would gut an important protection of your rights from the bill and force you to travel unarmed at the most dangerous time ? during a period of potential civil unrest.
