The Des Moines Tea Party

I'm a stay at home mom of 4.  I live in Madrid, Ia.  I have attended 5 tea parties - at the Capitol Apr 15 and July 4th and also attended a town hall mtg with Tom Harkin and one in Adel with Chuch Grassley.  I scraped up money to go to Washington DC on September 12th.  That was an awesome experience.  My 22 yr old neice went with me and I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to be surrounded by so many like minded good salt of the earth people.

I began this journey a couple years ago.  I had a bad feeling in my gut that things were going to spiral out of control.  Really can' explain it any better than that.  I tried to deny this feeling, but at time went on - national events began to confirm my fears.  Yes, I'm a Republican, but have been betrayed by that party, so now see myself as independant.  I have never been politically active before, other than voting in major elections.  Those days are gone.  I got plenty of time to carry signs and protest, and plan to do so at every opportunity.  I'm in this for my children and their children.
