Anyone that follows this site with any regularity knows that I and a few 'prominent' members here have had varying degrees of differing opinions.  Unfortunately, in my opinion their views vary so far from what this country is supposed to stand for that I no longer wish to be associated with them, nor any group they are a part of.  So I urge the rest of you that wish to remain on this site:  Do not let these vocal minorities speak on your behalf.  Tell them how YOU feel on the subjects that YOU care about.  Don't let them paint this movement that has so much potential in such a negative light.

Above all else, remember what got this movement started:  Frustration over a lack of TRUE representation by our public servants in government, and a weariness of unconstitutional transgressions.

I follow everything on here even though I dont comment on much.  I gotta admit..I dont agree with much that you say Broken Arrow. I lean more towards the others. Does that make us Tea Partiers or You??? I dont know..but its the side that Im leaning to

Look gang, I'm not sure what this is all about but I want to try and clear the air.  As one of the original organizers of this movement I feel compelled to intervene.  The Des Moines Tea Party believes that the U.S. Constitution is the greatest document ever created.  It was Divinely inspired and thus through that document, a nation was born.  The Des Moines Tea Party believes in holding our elected officials accountable at all turns and we expect those elected to follow and or uphold the Constitution.  We believe in limited government, strong national defense, states rights, free enterprise and limited taxation.  Hopefully we can educate and motivate Iowans to participate and get engaged in the process.  It's going to take alot of work and require alot of help along the way.

On April 15th, 2009 a diverse group of concerned citizens across the state of Iowa made a trip to the state capitol to protest an out of control government.  Democrats, Independents, Republicans, people of various creeds, ages, races and beliefs were there but they came together to let everyone know that "they were upset at an out of control government and were ready to take back their country."   That's what this movement is about.

It's not about social issues.  Are marriage and religion important?  Of course they are.  But fighting each other on these subjects and others is not going to win the war.  Getting involved in this movement in a positive manner is one way of winning a few battles.  We talk about education, especially in the classrooms.  We are all stakeholders in our schools.  We complain about what is being taught or not being taught and yet alot of people will do nothing about it.  We complain about an active judiciary.  However, we know that if the judiciary is placed in check, alot of these social problems can straighten themselves out.  There is alot of work to be done.

I ask you to take your energies and help us.  We need people to take notice and see what is going on in your communities.  Whether it's your local school board, city counsel, you name it.  We need watch dogs who can or will report to us.  Instead of leaving the movement, try to remember why you joined in the first place.  We're all just a bunch of volunteers trying to make a difference.  For me, it's about the future for my children and grandchildren.  They are the ones that will pay the price in the end.  I just want to be able to look them in the eye and tell them, that I tried to make a difference.  Because believe me, they're going to ask, "what happened?  How could you let this happen?"  If we can come together for the right reasons as I've stated, I believe we can make a difference.  I'll let some other organization handle the social issues.  I just want my country back.
